About Next Photo I.V.A
Next Photo I.V.A focuses on digital restoration of aging and damaged photographs in New York. The work starts from the original print or film image and returns a digital file.
What the work is for
People keep photographs because a particular afternoon, face, or street still matters. Time does not always keep the paper in the same condition. Restoration should improve what survives in a photograph without unnecessarily turning it into a different image.
That principle guides how Next Photo I.V.A approaches old film photographs, damaged prints, faded images, and stain-marked pictures. Grain, modest focus, and the lighting of the original exposure are treated as part of the photograph’s character.
A New York address
The service is based at 41 W 22nd St, New York, NY 10010. Requests arrive through the website, phone, and email. Arrangements for sharing photographs are discussed after a request is reviewed.
Three kinds of work
Restoring what remains
Contrast, color balance, dust, light scratches, and faded density are addressed when the photograph still contains that information. This is the center of the practice.
Reconstructing what is gone
Tears, missing corners, and holes may be filled using nearby detail. Reconstruction is always an interpretation. It is not the same as recovering a lost original, and it is discussed as such.
Optional colorization
Color added to a black-and-white photograph is a reading of possible color, not a retrieval of dyes the print never had. It is offered only when you ask for it.
What this service is not
Digital restoration is not physical conservation of the paper or film. The original remains as you keep it, unless a separate scanning step is arranged. The website does not present restoration as a transformation into a modern studio portrait. The photograph is allowed to remain itself, only more readable.
Questions about a specific print are best sent as a photo review request.
